The new Toyota C-HR has undergone a significant upgrade and now features four grades - Icon, Design, Excel, and GR Sport, with the Premiere Edition topping the range.
The vehicle has a new, stylish design with slim LED lights and improved aerodynamics. The interior has also been updated to include new shapes in the dash, premium materials and advanced instrument displays.
Drivers have a choice of 140hp or 197hp self-charging hybrids, as well as the new plug-in hybrid. The self-charging hybrid has an 81.8-litre fuel capacity and although not particularly fast, it feels responsive on light throttle openings; the 2.0-litre self-charger is much peppier with an 8.1-second 0-62mph time. Meanwhile, the PHEV is the quickest C-HR with a 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds and a claimed EV-only range of 41 miles.
The New C-HR comes with a range of safety and driver assist features, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign assist and adaptive cruise control. Lane departure assist is also included and it can assist with steering on motorways and other clearly marked roads.
With self-charging hybrids, drivers can achieve over 50mpg even with enthusiastic driving, and the PHEV is an efficient machine even with a flat battery. Overall, the second-generation C-HR is wider, stiffer, quieter, and more spacious. All Vehicle Contracts Ltd Published: Jan 30 2024
